Explore Bottega Privée • Alajuela

If you’re looking for a truly inviting Italian-inspired dining experience in Alajuela, Bottega Privée • Alajuela is a spot that instantly feels warm and accommodating. Nestled in Los Molinos, Monserrat, this charming restaurant creates a perfect balance between approachable elegance and personal attention. From the moment you walk in, the staff-especially servers like Jorge and Manuel-make you feel right at home, going out of their way to explain the menu, recommend dishes, and even navigate language differences so your dining experience is seamless. The kitchen mirrors that care, delivering dishes with finesse: the beef carpaccio stands out for its freshness and flavor, the ravioli is perfectly crafted, and the carbonara hits that comforting yet refined Italian note that makes each bite memorable. Seafood options, like the Red Snapper, are thoughtfully paired with wine-an Italian Cabernet, for instance-to complement the flavors without overwhelming the palate. Guests often note the small gestures that elevate the experience, such as a tasting of sweet wines or complimentary samples when you pick a bottle to enjoy on site, adding a playful and generous touch that makes the meal feel more like a shared experience than just dining out. The atmosphere itself is quiet and relaxed, ideal for families, couples, or solo visitors looking to savor their food without distraction. Service feels attentive without being intrusive, and the staff clearly take pride in accommodating dietary preferences and answering questions about the menu, making it easy to explore dishes you might not usually try. Stopped by the City Mall for a few hours before my 2AM night flight home to LAX. I had no idea what I wanted for my final CR meal, but I stumbled across Bottega Privée and decided to give it a shot, as a welcome respite from rice & beans. The service was absolutely fantastic, and they wine selection was far better than I expected from a shopping mall food court in CR. I decided to go for some risotto for a change of pace and I was not disappointed. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

We went in for a tasting with our family. They were so kind and attentive!! Shared their sweet wines with us, after we bought a bottle to drink there they gave us sample of food!! Waiter and chef were amazing. 10/10

We stop by for late dinner before the flight home. The stuff is super professional and the chef has no mistakes with all the dishes. Definitely the best place we can sing up with our trip.

After a 14 hours traveling, it was a Fantastic first meal in CR. Esteban was a consummate gentleman! Attentive, polite, and a perfect example of Pura Vida! The food was fantastic, and the wine list was extensive and interesting. You can even buy full bottles to go. A wonderful experience. We will be back at the tail-end of our trip and will no doubt make this our last meal whilst here. The location is about 20 minutes (with construction) from the airport. If you have a long layover (+3 hours), it would be worth heading over for a meal. The restaurant is located in a shopping mall where you could get in some shopping too.

While visiting Costa Rica, recently, my wife and I were treated to an Italian experience that, to us, was unique to the area. The food was delicious and the staff extraordinarily gracious. I highly recommend this as a place to go if you are wanting something that goes above the ordinary "Italian" cuisine offered by food chains. You won't be disappointed.

Had the pleasure of stopping by this Italian inspired restaurant during my quick stay in Alajuero. I was looking at the menu and was greeted by my lovely waiter Jorge who was very kind and although he spoke little English and I spoke little Spanish, we were able to converse and learn from one another. When Jorge was unsure of what I was asking, he then called on his waiting partner Manuel whom spoke perfect English. After giving me a run down of the menu, I decided to give it a try. Manuel from the very beginning was very tentative and helpful with answering my questions. I don’t eat pork and rarely any red meat so these are questions I always have when ordering. Manuel made a great recommendation for the Red Snapper paired with an Italian Cabernet to accompany the pallet! When I tell you not only was the food and wine delicious, but the service was even more wonderful! From both waiters to the chefs, everyone was very welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommend if you’re looking for more of a fine dining feel without breaking the bank. Thank you Jorge and Manuel for the great service! I look forward to coming back for dessert (I was too stuffed to add that to the menu lol).

Fantastic place and super happy we stopped. Due to the 4/7/22 plane crash we got stuck in San Jose for a few extra nights. During our stay near the airport we randomly wandered in and almost passed due to lack of reviews. The menu looked and and we decided to give it a try! We were so impressed I decided to write a review because it was fantastic!! Beef carpaccio was magnificent. The ravioli great the carbonara great! Solid place and we had an amazing bottle of wine!! Give ‘em a try!

Our last night in CR while staying at the Hilton Garden Inn at City Mall, we found Bottega Privé. Delicious food, excellent wine selection, and tremendous service by Manuel Antonio. You should definitely try it if you’re in the area!
